TEACHING OUR KIDS TO PLAY TENNIS
Young beginner students learn that tennis requires running, stopping, swinging, turning and repeating without a break for the whole point. Tennis Professional Sunny Mallinson gives these newcomers some exercise.

Woodland has a new Tennis Pro – Mark Hansen! He has been recruited to build the Woodland tennis program for Juniors and beyond. He has a wealth of experience building successful tennis programs and is already off to a strong start. Mark is available for both private & group clinic lessons.
Here are a few words from Mark:
I have been teaching tennis at Woodland City Park for a few months now. A lot of the time I look around and it reminds me of how much of a “Full Circle” life can be. A couple of examples:
In between those “full circle” events, I taught for over 20 years at Vacaville Sports Club and most recently at the Stonegate Tennis Academy with Lukas Burger in Davis.
I enjoy teaching Adults as well as Juniors and look forward to meeting all of you!

I have been teaching tennis at Woodland City Park for a few months now. A lot of the time I look around and it reminds me of how much of a “Full Circle” life can be. A couple of examples:
- I learned to play tennis at Woodland City Park and now I am there teaching tennis there. I always say that Art Williams was my first teacher, but it was so long ago that I am not sure that it is accurate!
- My first Tennis Teaching job was for the Woodland Rec Dept. Karen Gee and I taught lessons at the then new Woodland High, 40 plus years later, I am teaching for the Rec Department again!
- My first full time teaching job was for Phil Cello, at Green Valley CC and now I am working for CITA in Woodland.
- Gary Traynham’s ,( the Daily Democrat Sports Editor when I was in High School) grandkids are taking lessons.
- Jamie Adams was one of my sisters’ best friends and Jamie also worked for my dad at the Woodland Clinic. Her grandkids are also taking lessons.
In between those “full circle” events, I taught for over 20 years at Vacaville Sports Club and most recently at the Stonegate Tennis Academy with Lukas Burger in Davis.
I enjoy teaching Adults as well as Juniors and look forward to meeting all of you!
