January 2016 - Sacramento Junior Tennis Fund Grant
The city of Woodland and Woodland Tennis Club has been awarded a grant from the Sacramento Junior Tennis Fund with the purpose of exposing new youth participants to the sport of tennis.
Scholarships are granted on a first come, first served basis to qualified applicants, according to Marshall Echols, recreation supervisor for the Community Services Department. A qualified applicant lives in Woodland, is between 6 and16 years old, and has never taken a tennis lesson with the city of Woodland.
Lessons take place on Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. or from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. and are split into 3 sessions. Session 1: 1/9 - 27, Session 2: 3/5 - 4/23, , Session 3: 4/30 - 5/21. All session players will be invited to a tournament on May 28th to complete for a cash prize.
Lessons will take place at City Park, 629 Cleveland St.
Tennis racquets and balls will be provided.
