2018 July Summer Saturday
The Woodland City Beach was open for tennis on Saturday as members enjoyed four rounds of mixed doubles in a beach themed summer social. It was a hot and sunny morning when twelve members of the Woodland and Davis Tennis Clubs took to the courts. The competition was fierce as pairs formed and played and reformed and played more. As the temperatures rose so did the level of play.
It was a tight competition for the most games won with Marcail McWilliams and Karen Block battling for the top women’s spot with Marcail beating out Karen in the final round. On the men’s side Jack Jonas and Michael Mott were neck and neck throughout the morning until the final round where Jack managed to edge Mike out by just one game. The winners took home small plastic beach pails containing their Beach Hut Deli gift cards. The entire group convened around the surf board and sand toys after the morning’s round robin play for a traditional beach picnic of sandwiches, salad, watermelon and cookies.
Special thanks to Margie McWilliams and Lenise Curtis for providing delicious salads for the event and to Margo Roeckl and Elaine McCain for coordinating the round robin play and social. The final Summer Saturday is coming up in August – see you on the courts!
